New study reveals brand loyalty is taking the lead over individual purchases in ecommerce

The June State of Commerce Report by Shopify discovered a significant increase in online shoppers returning to make new purchases from the same store.

Shopify released its first ever State of Commerce Report. The report is based on a merchant survey they conducted in March 2019 with thousands of their own customers. In the report, they revealed a shift in online consumer behavior towards brand loyalty.

Brand loyalty is slowly taking the lead over individual purchases

This shift will have a significant impact on ecommerce stores that have weak branding and continue to rely on one-off purchases solely from paid marketing. It’s also a warning to online retailers that they need to invest more in how customers experience their brand or risk going out of business.
